Is Fiber Internet Worth It?

Do you have internet at your house? Or rely on it for work, school, or just to browse the internet? Or maybe you use it to connect with friends and family in different parts of the world like I do. I am not big on being glued to a screen, or spending all of my time buried in my electronics. But, I use the internet for college online, for work, and for talking with people on a video call that I can’t see face to face like I used to.
Around Barry county, the internet choices are very limited. The options are low in numbers and the prices are very high for low operating internet. You pay well over $100 for just about 300mbps, that is not very fast and the internet is spotty, and it randomly goes out for no reason. The price and the service makes it not really worth it. So why pay for it. The best one I have found has been T-Mobile internet. It only costs you $80 a month, and you get 5G internet. It's pretty good compared to the other companies. But, it still doesn't compare to the speed and reliability of fiber internet.
Where we moved from in Indiana, they had just put fiber internet in. We looked into it and gave it a shot almost instantly. We were paying $150 a month for 500mbps, and the fiber provider, Surf Internet, offered us 1Gig up and down for just $85 a month. So, double the speeds for about half the price and it is unlimited data. Now, I do not know what the price would be if fiber made it to our towns and villages, but I can tell you from experience that it is worth the money if you need reliable internet. The provider will more than likely have lower plans as well that are not as expensive, to meet the needs you have.
When me and my family first heard about fiber, we heard that there were a bunch of problems with it, it was always down, it was super expensive, and half the time it didn't work as it should, or even that it was slower than what we were told it was. We were very skeptical. When we finally signed up, we were shocked at how well it worked for the low price of it. We chose the plan that was 1Gig up and 1Gig down. So, it was very fast. The second you opened something, it loaded instantly. Videos had zero lag to them and no buffering. I would be doing school work, and streaming music while the TV in the other room was streaming TV shows, my wife on her phone, and my brother playing online videogames, and still no problems at all with speed. It also helped with having perfect clarity when I was doing business meetings for work on my computer and for school. This was the best internet we have ever had.
So, if you are wondering if fiber internet is good and or worth it. I can tell you that it most definitely is. If you want to have faster streaming for tv’s and apps, better quality facetime calls and video chats, better upload speeds and download speeds with reliability. Then fiber internet is the way to go. Fiber is also funded through federal grants and by private companies and usually does not cost more taxes to have thanks to these grants and investors. It will help with the value of your home by having it as an option as well. Depending on your situation and life style, fiber internet might be a great option for you.
